The Mint Nutrition Clinic. Your start of your journey to a happier, healthier you.

The first visit is all about getting to know you and you getting to know us. It’s also about making progress from day one. The sooner you begin your treatment plan, the sooner you’ll benefit!

FIRST ASSESSMENT CONSULTATION

During the first in-depth one-hour consultation (it may run to 90 minutes), we find out as much as we can about you. We’re often asked if you should bring anything to this session. It’s over to you but there’s no need as we start from scratch. If you wish you can bring a support person – perhaps a partner, a parent or other family member, or a friend.

Once you’re settled, we make a start.

We begin with the big picture then gradually drill down to get a more detailed picture of you and your world. What brought you here? We’ll ask you about your social setting (who you live with), your family culture and your medical history. We’ll ask you questions to find out what, why and when you eat. This helps us assess your eating behaviour history.

Towards the end of the session, we’ll summarise what we’ve discussed and indicate what we think the issues are, how we can help and likely outcomes. We’ll answer any questions you may have. You’ll feel under no pressure to make a decision immediately. If you decide to undergo treatment, we’ll schedule another session.

SECOND SESSION – THE TREATMENT PLAN

At the second session, we present and discuss your treatment plan in detail. In between we will have done a lot of homework to design a plan that will help you achieve your goals, is realistic and doable and that you will be motivated to stick to. Of course, effort will be required on your part but we do all we can to encourage you. You’ll find our positivity contagious. We’ll check in with you regularly to see how you’re progressing and rework your treatment plan if your situation changes or you’re having difficulty with any aspect of it.

Many of our clients undergo our Mint Intuitive Eating Programme or learn skills from it. It’s an important component of treatment as it helps overcome thinking and behaviours that affect your eating and may be holding you back from reaching your goals.
